St. James Gate Proper Irish Pub opened its doors on Folly Beach in June 2015. The name itself has always been associated with the brewing trade since the Middle Ages. On December 31, 1759, the lease of a brewery was signed over to Arthur Guinness (yes, that Guinness) for 9,000 years at €45 per year! St. James’s Gate has been the Guinness Brewery ever since.

Good food and great cocktails. Authentic irish food that is wonderful. One of Folly's best restaurants. Highly recommended to anyone.
The "gree -tar" is hilarious at the front door! The Irish coffees are the best. We didn't get any food but the atmosphere was awesome!
Fried pickles very good with their amazing dip sauce. Grilled chicken with brief was good bit could not tasted the Brie. Fish sandwich was very good and the fish and chips too. French onion sope was little watery.
Their curry fries are phenomenal And Guinness is always better in an Irish Pub. Food was much better than we expected. It's easy to understand why it was crowded every time we went by.
